Playing poker requires that you play with some kind of strategy if you wish to be successful. The idea is that you want to set up you opponents with certain styles of play so that you can use it against them in the future. There is an infinite amount of variation that exist between various playing styles but almost all styles can be categorized as either be loose or tight. In this article I will go over just what exactly a loose playing strategy is and how you can use it to you advantage to give you the best chance of winning at the poker table.

A loose poker strategy essentially requires that you be more aggressive and enter into more hands. The trademark of any solid loose strategy is that youíre going to steal a lot of small blinds and hopefully win big with your really good hands. This is a high risk and high rewards strategy and is much harder to execute successfully as opposed to a tight strategy.

I think where a lot of players go wrong with the loose playing strategy is that they play a lot of hands but with no method behind what hands they are playing. Playing a loose strategy doesnít mean that youíll enter into hands with just any cards. It simply means that you selection of starting hands is going to be slightly larger than the average player. You have to be able to recognize when your opponents are weak and then capitalize on these situations by trying to push them out of the hand. This is how you steal small pots.

A loose player also has to always be aware of their playing position. There are going to be some situations in which being aggressive is definitely not the right move to make. Usually, a loose player will try to attack when they are in the late betting position. This is because they already have knowledge of what all the other players are planning on doing with their hands at that particular point in the game and they can exploit any type of perceived weakness.

One of the great things about playing a loose style of poker is that you can capitalize on your really good hands. This is because your opponents are much more likely to call you whenever you start throwing big chips around. They'll assume that you're simply trying to push them out of the hand and wonít be expecting your monster hand.
